Today on Morning Edition, National Public Radio aired “Shortage of Brain Tissue Hinders Autism Research,” a special segment on the critical need for donated brain tissue in autism research. Listeners met Jonathan Mitchell, a Los Angeles man who struggles with autism and has pledged his postmortem brain to science. It also featured the work of University of California, San Diego researcher Eric Courchesne, Ph.D., who has made crucial discoveries about the disorder by studying tissue from Autism Speaks Autism Tissue Program.
