Autism Speaks, the world's leading autism science and advocacy organization, is hosting the first investment conference focused on the rapidly emerging opportunity landscape for entrepreneurship, business development and investment in the field of autism. This one-day conference will introduce the diverse range of commercial product development areas that are aligned to deliver value for the autism community’s many unmet healthcare, education and service needs.
“As a foundation, we recognize that the world of commercial enterprise and private investment will be an essential partner in delivering the range of products and services that our autism community desperately needs,” says Robert Ring, Ph.D., Autism Speaks vice president for translational research. Dr. Ring also heads Autism Speaks new not-for-profit affiliate DELSIA (Delivering Scientific Innovation to Autism).
“This meeting emphasizes Autism Speaks commitment to translation and highlights that our mission must extend beyond the science to realize the transformative potential of research breakthroughs for individuals living with autism and their families,” Dr. Ring says.
The conference will feature presentations and discussions with professionals and companies working in four vital areas of new product development:
1) Therapeutic technology (medicines and devices)
2) Diagnostics and enabling technology
3) Assistive technology
4) Services and supports
The Autism Speaks Autism Investment Conference will be held at JW Marriott Essex House, 160 Central Park South, New York City, on February 21, 2013. For more information and registration, please visit http://aic.autismspeaks.org/home.cfm.
