SFARI webinar features Jeremy Veenstra-VanderWeele, child psychiatrist and investigator in the Autism Speaks Autism Treatment Network

June 19, 2014

Researchers and members of the autism community are invited to participate in a free webinar – Wednesday June 25 at 3 pm ET – describing two distinct routes for discovering and developing new medicines for autism.

The webinar, sponsored by the Simons Foundation Autism Research Initiative, will feature Jeremy Veenstra-VanderWeele, medical director of Vanderbilt University’s Treatment and Research Institute for Autism Spectrum Disorders. The institute is part of the Autism Speaks Autism Treatment Network. Dr. Veenstra-VanderWeele is also a recipient of an Autism Speaks research grant and serves as a mentor for an Autism Speaks Weatherstone Predoctoral Fellowship.

In his webinar, Dr. Veenstra-VanderWeele will lay out two paths for developing autism medicines. The first focuses on medicines with the potential to provide modest benefits for individuals across the autism spectrum. The other focuses on developing medicines that target a specific subtype of autism, with the promise of life-transforming benefits.

There will be a question and answer period directly following his talk. Register here. Following the talk, the webinar will be posted for replay here
