Autism Speaks salutes the Canadian Institutes of Health Research in its creation of a new research chair dedicated to improving the treatment and care of Canadians with autism, throughout their lives. Psychologist Jonathan Weiss, Ph.D., of York University, will serve as the first chairperson of the newly created Autism Spectrum Disorders Treatment and Care Research Program.
Health Canada partners with Autism Speaks Canada, Canadian Autism Spectrum Disorders Alliance (CASDA), NeuroDevNet and the Sinneave Family Foundation together provided $1 million in funding over a six-year appointment. York University will donate a matching amount.
