Malaysia’s newly founded autism program – Permata Kurnia – has announced that it will collaborate with Autism Speaks to enhance national awareness and community sensitivity to the needs of individuals with autism. The announcement comes on the heels of Autism Speaks’ Sixth Annual World Focus on Autism, in New York City. The Sept. 26 event, attended by first spouses and other dignitaries from around the world, promoted awareness of autism as a global public health issue. Malaysian first lady Datin Seri Rosmah Mansor was among the event’s feature speakers (photo at left).
